Using materials in craft projects that would ordinarily be disposed is a good
way to teach the true meaning of “reuse” and “recycling”. For more craft project

Materials:
Water
Glycerin
Glass jar any size with lid (can be made from a water bottle or glass/plastic
container)
Glitter/confetti
Small holiday figurine or plastic item
Hot or super glue
Food coloring (optional)
Step #1: Clean container out thoroughly. Glue figurine to the inside of
the lid. Let dry.
Step #2: Fill container ¾ full of water and add 2
drops of glycerin. Add a handful of confetti/glitter to the container.
Step #3: Fill the remaining of the container with
water. Put glue inside rim of lid (slowly, carefully), place lid tightly back
onto container. If you wish, glue around the edge of lid to container. Let dry.
Step #4: Shake and enjoy your new snow globe, put
where others can see.
“Santa” Pot
(This craft can be modified to any holiday figure- you choose)
Materials:
Two 3” clay pots
Mini Jumbo craft stick
Two 7mm wiggly eyes
¼” Buttons
Black permanent dual-tip marker
White gel pen
Thick craft glue
Small red pouch or bag (with draw strings)
Colored tissue paper
Paper, pencil, scissors, ruler, paintbrush,
Acrylic paints (any color), stencil brush,
paper towels, sandpaper, white transfer paper.
Use any size pot, depending on what you wish to make and how big you wish to
make it.
Step #1: Sand edges of clay pots. Wipe entire pot with wet paper towel,
to remove dust. For arms, cut mini jumbo craft stick in half; sand cut edges.
Step #2: Flip pots so bottoms are sitting atop of
each other (bottom to bottom). Paint a Santa head on the top pot, hair around
back, make like he has a hat on, draw a smile and beard, nose, etc. Paint the
body of Santa on the bottom pot. Detailed all around pots. Let dry for an hour
or until paint is dry.
Step #3: Glue on the arms (Mini Jumbo sticks that
are in half and sanded) let dry.
Step #4: Glue buttons for the front of Santa’s
shirt (as many as you wish, we recommend at least 2-3.) let dry.
Step #5: Glue eyes on the head (top pot) let dry.
Step #6: Glue red pouch to either shoulder (above
arm) fill pouch with colored tissue paper, let dry.
Step #7: Finish up. Generously glue head to top of
body. Let dry for at least 2 hours.
Step #8: Fill head with candy canes or candy to
share with others on the holidays.

Cardboard Paper Roll Snowman
Materials:

Child’s sock or fabric scrap
Twine or yarn scrap
twigs

orange toothpick
black buttons or whole black pepper corns |
Step #1: Mix salt with acrylic paint to give paint a coarse texture. Cut
paper tube to desired height. Paint tube with white paint.
Step #2:
For hat, if using sock- fold cuff of sock up about 1”, repeat. If using
fabric - cut in 7” x 7” square, fold one end 1”, repeat. Place sock or fabric
(folded side) on paper tube end and glue in place. Tie yarn or twine scrap
around fabric or sock 1” from loose end to complete hat.
Step #3: Glue on button or pepper corns for buttons and eyes. Attach
toothpick by poking hole with a thumb tack and dipping end in glue for nose.
Step #4: Make two small holes where arms will go. Dip twigs in glue and
insert into holes.
Step #5: For scarf, tear a 1” x 15’’ strip of fabric. Knot scarf around
snowman.

Christmas.
Portable Bubble Blower Necklace
Materials:
Film canister
Plastic bead
24”-36” string or yarn
¾” x 1 ½” piece of plastic canvas
bubble making liquid
hot glue gun
Step #1: Glue bead to top of film canister. Glue canvas to inside of lid,
so that it fits down into the film canister.
Step #2: String yarn or string through the bead.
Step #3: After the glue dries fill canister with bubble liquid. Close lid
tightly. You have a portable bubble blower necklace!
Tuna Can
Basket
Materials:
1 empty rinsed tuna or cat food can for each basket
approximately a 12” length of 4 ½ paper twist
white craft glue or low temp glue gun
misc. lace, ribbon, silk flowers, etc.
Step #1:
Cut a length of paper twist the diameter of the can and untwist until
flat.
Step #2: Paper is wide enough to cover the outside of the can, fold and
cover the inside of the can. Glue into place. Do not untwist the remainder of
the paper.
Step #3: Bend it into handle shape and glue inside can. Decorate.
Step #4: These baskets can be filled with Spanish moss, potpourri or
other items.
