Polystyrene (Styrofoam)

What to do with polystyrene...

What we commonly call Styrofoam, is actually the most recognizable form of foam polystyrene packaging. Styrofoam ® is a Dow Chemical Co. trademarked form of polystyrene foam insulation. The real name of the product is foamed polystyrene. It is a #6 plastic, so it not recyclable.

Polystyrene is commonly used as a packaging buffer to prevent damage while shipping. The "peanut" is a familiar form of polystyrene. These peanuts can be a real problem to dispose of in an environmentally sound fashion.

The UPS Store #4421, located at 4920 Milan Road, Unit 1, Sandusky, Ohio will take them off your hands at no charge. Visit them during their normal business hours. Their phone number is 419.609.0867. They will also accept bubble wrap.

Note: They will NOT accept large pieces of polystyrene, just the peanuts.
