Classroom Visit
Erie County Waste Reduction Program is available for classroom visits to both
public and private preschools in Erie County. The staff can do any of the
presentations shown below or adapt them to meet the needs of the preschool.
There is no cost for the presentation or materials.
Blue Bug's Beach Party
The classroom is covered in trash! The students hear how Blue Bug picks up his
beach and then hold a litter pickup in their own classroom.
Big Book Activity
Where does garbage go? Children discover where their garbage goes after it is
picked up by the garbage truck. Each child colors a page of the story for a
classroom book.
Paper Making
Children learn about recycling and the papermaking process. Each child touches
and molds paper pulp to make their very own take-home project.
Lucky the Ladybug Visit
Lucky the Ladybug is the Ohio Department of Natural Resource's litter prevention
mascot and Ohio's First Lady of Litter Prevention. Lucky is also the centerpiece
of our litter prevention campaign for young children.
Lucky's mission is to help children understand the importance of not littering
and keeping Ohio clean. She loves meeting with children and encouraging them to
make a difference in their communities by volunteering to help clean up littered
areas and reminding others not to litter.
Lucky the Ladybug has found a permanent home in Erie County and would be happy
to visit public and private preschools in Erie County with her message of litter
prevention.
