Long-Range Transportation Plan
The Long-Range Transportation Plan (20 year future plan) is a strategy of capital improvement programming developed to guide the investment of public funds in transportation facilities. The Plan provides the blueprint from which the area's short range Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) are developed. The TIP identifies the highway, transit, bikeway and pedestrian projects scheduled to be constructed over a four-year time frame. The long-range plan is updated every five years and may be amended due to available federal, state and local funding.
The ambition of the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is the development of a intermodal transportation system, one that is efficient, fiscally sound, environmentally friendly, and which provides the regional infrastructure to better compete in the global economy.
The ERPC MPO 2030 LRTP was completed with help from consultants URS, Inc. Work on the plan began in July 2004 and was officially adopted by the Policy Committee in August 2005.
Every 5 years, the MPO is required to update its LRTP. Staff has begun work on the update for the 2035 LRTP. A series of public open houses will be scheduled throughout the year to solicit public input on existing transportation facilities throughout the MPO region. Please check ERPC’s main page for notices of public events related to the development of the 2035 LRTP. Staff anticipates the LRTP to be completed in the summer of 2010.
