Magistrate Bruce R. Croteau

Personal Background:

Bruce R. Croteau moved to Sandusky in 1969 with his family and graduated from Perkins High School in 1975. 

He earned a BSBA in 1978 and a MBA in 1979 from the Ohio State University .  After working in the private sector for 5 years, he returned to Ohio State and received his Juris Doctorate in 1987.  He was admitted to the Ohio Bar the same year.

Professional Background:

Bruce was appointed as a Magistrate in 1996 by former Judge Donald Ramsey.  In 2001 current Judge Robert DeLamatre reappointed him as Senior Magistrate.

After admittance, he served as the Erie County IV-D attorney for two years and then entered into private practice.  Since his appointment to the bench, he has presided over more than 700 trials.
