The total county budget of $129,037,164 is a 12% decrease from the ending 2008 budget.

This delivers $1,622 of services to each resident.

Erie County citizens have agreed to pay $389 of the $1,622 to be spent on each resident in 2009.

Social Services include the Care Facility (professional nursing home care), M.R.D.D. Board (providing a safety net for the disabled), public assistance, and children services.

Public utilities include water, sewer, and refuse disposal services.

*

Capital expenses include construction projects and financings.

*

Public safety includes roads and bridges, facility maintenance, drainage, emergency management and insurance.

*

Only 15 cents of every sales tax dollar and 11 cents of every property tax dollar go to the County budget.

The County's sales tax amounts to about 42 cents per day from each resident.
