Location:  CSEA uses information provided by the applicant to access many location resources.

Paternity:

CSEA can establish legal responsibility for a child born out of wedlock. In many cases, this can be accomplished by using administrative procedures with no need for a Court Hearing.  DNA testing of all involved parties may be required as part of this process.

Establishment of an Order:   CSEA can assist in establishing a support order for children. This may be accomplished through either an administrative process or judicial process. In all cases, the Child Support Guidelines of Ohio will be used to determine the amount of child support to be paid by the non-custodial party. CSEA will establish an order for medical support for any child(ren) in which there is an established parent absent from the home while following all applicable laws determining which parent should provide medical insurance for the child(ren).

Administrative Review and Adjustment:  Mother and son Upon the request of either party, CSEA can determine if the case meets all necessary criteria for CSEA to perform an administrative review and adjustment of the support order (a modification). If it is determined that a review is warranted, CSEA will attempt to gather all necessary financial information to review the child support order for a possible adjustment.

Enforcement:

CSEA will use all appropriate means available to enforce an order for support issued administratively or by the court. The most common examples of these actions include, but are not limited to, orders for wage withholding and seek work, intercepting tax refunds, initiating contempt actions, and criminal non-support.

Collection and Disbursement: CSEA tracks all support collections. Currently, every Ohio county's funds are collected and disbursed through a centralized location in Columbus. CSEA maintains records of all monies paid on child support and alimony cases. All collections and enforcement activities are reported to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services as required by law.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT CSEA RECEIVES AN APPLICATION FOR SERVICES.

MOST SERVICES REQUIRE THAT CSEA HAVE THIS APPLICATION ON FILE.
