When are visiting hours?

Inmate whose last name begins with A through K

 

Tuesday 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM

                5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

 

There are no visiting hours on Sundays.

 

 

Inmate whose last name begins with L through Z

 

Wednesday 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM

                      5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

 

There are no visiting hours on Sundays.

Bond must be posted in cash, certified check, cashier's check or money order.  No personal checks, no credit cards..

How do I put a block on my phone to stop calls from the Erie County Jail?

Call 1-800-844-6591 to block phone calls from the Erie County Jail (they need not come to the jail).

What are the requirements for visitation?

In order to visit you must be listed on the inmate's visiting list, have a Photo I.D., and be at least 18 years of age. 

 

If you are under 18 years old you need to be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian. 

 

You cannot visit if you have a TPO (Temporary Protection Order) or CPO (Civil Protection Order) against the person your wanting to visit. 

 

Only 3 visitors allowed for each visitation period.

No messages are taken.

What items can be taken to prison?

Current Ohio Department of Corrections rules do not allow any personal property to be taken to prison.  This includes cash, checks, clothing, hygiene items, documents, photographs, tobacco products, ect.  Any personal property left behind at the Erie County Jail by an inmate must be picked up within 14 days.

Can I receive property from a person who has been arrested?

The only properties that may be released from an inmate's property must be approved by court order.

 

Clothing, jewelry, and cell phones will not be released.  This property will be returned when the inmate is released.

What can be sent through the mail?

Only letters and money orders.  Inmates cannot have pictures, books, or envelopes sent to them.  No contraband.

To obtain information regarding employment opportunities at the Erie County Sheriff's Office, please contact the Erie County Department of Human Resources at (419) 627-7678.

Employment opportunities are posted at various locations throughout Erie County and can be viewed at the Human Resources Office located at 2900 Columbus Avenue, Second Floor, Sandusky OH  44870.
